Expect a normal operating temperature of 45C - 57C for both the P4 3.0C GHz and AMD Athlon XP 3000+ CPU. If you can download ASUS PC PROBE(click here) You will be able to see the temperature of your system.

Here are some sample temperature images from ASUS PC Probe:

Install the most recent drivers in the following order:


1) Chipset/Motherboard drivers (Example, VIA 4 in 1's for VIA chipsets,
Intel INF and Application Accelerator for Intel chipsets, Etc.) Do this
BEFORE loading any other driver!
2) Latest version of Direct X.
3) Latest Video Card drivers.
4) SCSI/ATA drivers
5) Lan/NIC drivers
6) Modem drivers, then any other drivers
7) Finally, install sound card drivers last.

FLASH/update the ASUS Motherboard BIOS

WARNING!!! Update (FLASH) the BIOS only if you have problems and you are sure that the new BIOS revision will solve your problems. Careless updating may result in more problems with the motherboard!

When installing an AMD Sempron CPU - why does the BIOS detect AMD Athlon 1100 on my ASUS A7V400-MX MB?

  1. FLASH the BIOS to revision 1009

    Download flash tool HERE

    Download BIOS HERE

     

  2. Extract and copy the files AWDFLASH108.EXE and 1009.bin to a floppy disk.

  3. Turn the PC OFF and put the floppy in and hit ALT + F2

  4. DO NOT TURN OFF THE COMPUTER DURING THE FLASH PROCESS!!!!!

  5. Computer will restart and then turn the computer OFF once in Windows.

  6. Open the case and set the Dip Switches from 100 to 166 (See Motherboard manual)

  7. Turn on the computer - the BIOS should detect the CPU as an AMD SEMPRON 2600+
